Does your Art Club, or Guild need a Judge??

Linda has the Formal Education, and Experience to Judge your Art Show.  She is unbiased when it concerns choice of media used,  subject matter, and style of any entering artist!  It does not matter what  choices you used in framing, unless it is part of the artwork!
She concentrates on looking for skills in the rendering of the artwork (quality of the work)!  She is familiar with the different approaches and methods of making art .
She has MANY hours of college study in the "Elements of Art",  to help her see levels of artistic use of technique, and creativity in the art work.
There are 3 considerations for critique of art work:
1.  Realism- represents reality?
2.  Formalism- the quality and arrangement of the forms of art?
3.  Expressionism- meaning ?

"Artists are visual formers with a plan!"  With their materials they arrange the elements -lines, shapes, values, textures and colors - for their structure. the elements they use need to be controlled and integrated!  Artists manage this through the binding qualities of the principles of organization:  harmony, variety, balance, movement, proportion. dominance, and economy.  "The sum of these,  if the artist is successful, is UNITY! "
Form is the complete state of the work.  The artist produces this overall condition using the elements of art .  The artist's rendering is usually a mix of intuition and intellect.  Ideally the plan will effectively communicate the artist's feelings. (Also  termed composition or design.)
NOTE:  Professors of Visual Arts will tell you that sometimes the most successful, and talented artists are not always the best choices in being a Juror or Judge!  It takes a unbiased attitude, and a criteria to follow.
